A Gift...

A friend I used to work with recently turned 50.  I don't get to see her as often as I used to as our lives have taken us in different directions.  We exchange e-mails to stay up to date and finally arranged to get together last night for dinner at The Olive Garden.  I love their salad and bread sticks (yum)!  But, I digress.....

With her recent birthday in mind, I wanted to give her a little something to celebrate the occasion.  So, I made her this hat and scarf set.

I wasn't sure the color of her coat, but she has black hair and I thought this color blue would compliment her nicely.

The pattern is from Lisa Naskrent's book (2008) Hats, Scarves & Mittens for the Family.  The pattern is called "Snow Crest" and is very pretty and feminine.  It's a repeat pattern and the items work up fairly quickly.

With the cold snap that just arrived in our area, it won't be long before she can put these to use!

Joy in the making and in the giving.

  1. A lovely gift set. I enjoy repeat patterns as they don't take a lot of thought and can be finished in record time. Olive Garden salad and breadsticks really are all your need to make a good meal. Hope you are having a great weekend. :) Tammy

  7. That is a gorgeous hat and scarf! I love the stitch pattern. That's a really nice gift for your friend. I'll have to check out that book.

I'm really jealous that you are so far along with your latest Fireside Cheer blanket! I wish I would get motivated to work on mine again. I'm just a little less than half-way. I'm looking forward to seeing yours finished.

I'm hoping to finish the body of the Fireside Cheer by the end of the weekend. Then onto weaving in all the ends. I'm looking forward to seeing yours. I really like the colors you chose. Have a great weekend! :-)

  14. Hi Aquarian, the pattern is in a published book called Hats, Scarves and Mittens for the Family (by Lisa Naskrent). I've seen it on Amazon and lots of craft websites.
