Vanna's Choice Contest 2012

Well, my Shetland Tweed afghan, that I submitted for the Vanna's Choice Contest, was not selected as a finalist.    I am a bit disappointed, but you win some and you lose some.  We'll have another warm and cozy blanket to snuggle under this coming fall and winter.

I think the Fireside Cheer pattern is still one of my very favorites even with all those end.

If you want to see the finalists and vote on your favorite, you can go here:

End of May

It's hard to believe the month of May is coming to a close.  This spring has flown by.

My mom was here for about 5 days and we enjoyed some quality time together.  We had a picnic lunch one day at Eden Park in downtown Cincinnati.

Dear son had fun looking for 4-leaf clover while Mom and I unpacked the lunches...

We are in our final week of school, Yippee!  We joined a pool by us and signed the little one up for swim lessons.  He had just started swimming at the end of the season last year.  Hopefully he'll pick it right back up and will soon be swimming like a fish.

I got my digital subscription to Crochet World yesterday.  There are some really pretty things in there to make.  I really like the boy's sweater and may make it for the little one for fall.  I'll have to check my yarn stash to see what I have on hand.

Hope you enjoyed a great Memorial Day.
Counting my blessings.

Family Days are Fun Days

This past Saturday, our little family packed up in the car and headed to Caesar's Creek Park.  It is a large state park with hiking trails, a lake and a cute little pioneer village.

We enjoyed a picnic lunch under a grove of pine trees and then walked over to the little pond pictured above.  The pond was teeming with life with tadpoles swimming around and turtles lounging on dead logs soaking up the warm sun.

Never one to dawdle too long, we took a nice nature walk on one of the shorter trails.

Everything was so green...

and pretty.

After our walk, we headed over to the Pioneer Village to see what was going on.  Looked like they were having a volunteer clean up day.  I caught these cute little kittens peeking out from one of the porch steps, aren't they the cutest!

I'm so glad we got out on Saturday, because it rained ALL DAY on Mother's Day.  Hubby had to grill out the london broil with an umbrella.

:-)

Hope your weekend was spent doing something fun with family or friends, and I hope all you mother's enjoyed a blessed and peaceful Mother's Day.

Blessings,

Finally!

Have you ever crammed for an exam before?

That's what the past six weeks have felt like...
cramming for an exam, except it was preparing our house for the real estate market.

I can't begin to tell you all the things we've done.  It's now all a blur and I'd like to keep that stress in the past thank you very much!

A lot of the things we did were trying to add curb appeal to the house...

with fresh mulch and flowers...

We even got a new flag, to brighten the doorway.

The grass needs to be cut again.  Between all the rain and the fertilizer we've used, it's growing like a weed.

We also mulched out back.  I'm a creature of habit and did my usual impatiens out back by the cement table.

There are a few areas we left naturalized.  We ran out of both mulch and time.

We updated the lighting in our dining room too...

We switched out our traditional brass chandelier and sconces for the "oil-rubbed" bronze look.  Both Lowe's and Home Depot seem to be carrying a lot of this color in different styles, so we figured we couldn't go wrong.

I leave you with my pretty little wreath I bought for the front door, but ended up using it on the dining room table.  I thought it went well with the carpet in here.

Hope everyone in blog land is doing well.  I can't tell you the relief I feel just getting the house on the market. We just got entered into the system on Monday.  No activity yet.

Hopefully, thing will start returning to normal around here and I'll be back on line a bit more.

Happy day!
