I've made some good progress on my squares in the last couple of days...
If I continue at this rate, I'll make a small lapgan.

A few of you commented on the muted tone afghan in my previous post. That is a blanket I made for my son about a year and a half ago. I called it Vintage Horizontal Stripe. It has worn well, my son keeps it on his bed and uses it almost every day.
Kris at Simplify asked how old my son was. He is six and will be turning seven next month. I started reading chapter books to him about a year ago. I've always read to him, even as a baby, Hungry Caterpillar; Brown Bear, Brown Bear; Good Night Moon; etc. Even though he can now read for himself, I still read to him. It's a bit of quality time for us at the end of the day...

I went outside this evening to check on my flowers and got eaten alive by mosquitoes. My shady patch garden isn't really thriving like it has in past years. Our rainfall hasn't been consistent...
And the moles are excavating their underground mazes like crazy in our yard...
Must be the time of year, we probably need to put something on our lawn to kill the grubs.
That's it for me...
Wishing you a happy Friday and a fun filled weekend!

Its coming along nicely, don't stress on it, work at a comforting pace. :)
ReplyDeleteAren't those moles something?
I love how you answers some of the questions left on a previous post in this one so we can all see the responses!
ReplyDeleteSquares are looking great!
Hi Heather. Your squares are coming along great. :)
ReplyDeleteWe have a mole (or two) also - besides the problem of them digging tunnels, we have our dogs digging holes to get to them. My husband is not happy.
Love your squares!!! Actually, there isn't anything you've made, that I haven't loved.
ReplyDeleteWe always read to our kids too. From infancy, and on. Such special times.
I think Noah would be ready for chapter books too.
We have gophers that dig up our lawn like that! Awful buggers!!!
: ) Kris
They are coming along beautifully!
ReplyDeleteLovely to make grannies as they work up so quickly. I find sometimes doing the same thing over and over is quite soothing. Wishing you a wonderful day! Tammy
ReplyDeleteI can send my 2 chihuahuas over to your house. They EAT the grubs in our yard. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove your colour scheme for these squares!
ReplyDeleteSquares are looking good. This is going to be so pretty. Yup, got to have one! Reading, such a wonderful time spent! Have a great weekend. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteI like your blanket squares, nice colors!
ReplyDeleteI read to my son until he was fifteen years old, it's definitely quality time :-) Last book I read was Lord of the Rings...
Have a nice week!
Sounds like things are going well. I really like those granny squares. I just finished my crochet pillow (hope to share a picture of it next week). So now I need something else to work on. Might pick up my squares again. I'm hoping to make a lapgan too (love that name). :)
