NOTE:
Unfortunately, the Branching Leaves Scarf pattern is no longer available and I did not keep a copy of what I printed in which to crochet the scarf.
If you are looking for a free scarf pattern, you might like to try Crochet Pattern Central or one of the yarn brand web sites.
Best wishes!
I've been crocheting a lot of scarves lately. It's a nice change from large afghan work...
I started working on this last night. It's one I've had saved in my "favorites" for a long time. It's called Branching Leaves Scarf . The pattern is done as a chart. The stitch symbols are easy to pick up and can be learned quickly.
My scarf doesn't look like much yet and I may decide to go down a hook size. This is a "G" and I'm thinking it may look better if I use an "F"....we'll see. I'll play around with it some more. I'm also using Paton's Classic Wool in Woodrose Heather. This yarn is really nice; very soft. I received this yarn as a gift from a nice lady in one of my crochet groups. I've had it stored away for just the right project, and I think I found it!
Joy in newness and discovering new ways of doing the things I love!

What a sweet little vignette of crafty and homey goodness. :) We get tons of Japanese crochet books in the craft store here. If I could follow a chart, I would buy them -- but I can't always follow a regular pattern and get it right. Ha! Wishing you a wonderful day. Tammy
ReplyDeleteThanks Tammy! Those books sound really cool. I hope you have a great day! :-)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and the color is nice too. A wider scarf might be warmer outside but if you want to wear it indoors a narrower one might work out. Make it smaller or keep using the same hook--I think either way would be nice.
ReplyDeleteVery, very pretty and love the color. I think I have the same somewhere around here too. Love scarves as you say a bit of a break from the norm.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! Do you by any chance have the pattern saved? I have been trying to locate it for some time now.
ReplyDeleteHi DeeringFamily, I did not save the pattern and from what I understand it's been removed from Ravelry due to copyright issues. Sorry I'm not able to help.
ReplyDeleteI have the pattern but I'm having trouble with it - what rows do you repeat to make it continue - all of them, some of them, ? HELP! someone! I love it so and want to try to understand the graph better.
ReplyDeleteHi Deborah Misfit, I don't have the pattern any longer, but I do remember wondering the same thing myself. If I remember correctly, once the leaves start to form, you can start to tell which row to go back to in order to start your repeat. I hope that helps and good luck.
ReplyDeletethank you so much Heather - I think I'll try it out with some scrap yarn first! You are a love! And your scarf is lovely by the way!
