I started working on the Eugene Throw the other day. It's a free pattern and can be found HERE. It's really pretty and I love the way the cables cross over on the blanket.
I have had to "frog" it a couple of times trying to find the right hook size for the yarn I'm using. I ended up using an "N" hook.(?) I don't think I've ever used an "N" hook except to do double-stranded work. I'm much happier with the way it is looking now though, so I'm going to proceed.
I haven't done a lot of cable work, so this should be a fun experience (I love a challenge). I did make this below, a couple of years ago as a wedding gift. It has some cabling in it, but the cables are all in straight lines.
I'm looking forward to getting comfortable in my "crochet chair", putting my feet up on my foot rest and losing myself in this lovely project.
I only hope mine looks half as good as the one pictured on Caron's website! If so, it's going on the foot of dear husband and my bed.
Joy in a new challenge!

Looks challenging but oh so pretty. Looking forward to seeing yours. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Heather, this afghan should be BEAUTIFUL when it's done, and I look forward to seeing how it comes along as you work on it!.. As for the cookies you asked about, MY recipe says Chocolate Cherry Thumbprints... But I have looked and looked for it on the internet. While you will find similar recipes of many kinds out there, I couldn't find the recipe I use, and I like them just the way I make them! So do the kids!.. So I may, if I find time, post the recipe. If I don't have time now, then I'll try to post it sometime after Christmas. Thanks for stopping by and saying "hi"! ~tina
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful pattern! I look forward to seeing your when it's finished! I have never done cables in crochet, only in knitting. Maybe I will have to give it a go after Christmas. :o)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the link!
Hugs,

it is kind of funny that you are working on your cables... lol... because last night i started working on my cables in knitting lol... it was the first time i had tried it and it is going ok so far... i guess we will see how it turns out when i actually decide to make something instead of just practicing it
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies for the nice comments!
ReplyDeleteAlannah and Anita, I know very little about knitting....I think I could cast on and knit row upon row, but nothing fancy. My grandma taught me when I was a teen (or maybe preteen), but I never made anything. I do admire all things knit (and crocheted!). :-)
Tina, I'll keep an eye out for your cookie recipe, they looked delicious and really caught my eye on your blog. :-)
Hope everyone has a great day! :-)
That ivory afghan is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!!! What a treat to receive a gift from you.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how the new afghan progresses. The color is devine.
Thanks Kelly for your nice comment and for stopping by my little world! :-) Hope you have a great day! :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be a beautiful throw. It's fun to try new patterns like this. I bet you'll have no trouble at all. Can't wait to see your progress.
ReplyDeleteThank you Clara. I'm really liking the pattern so far. :-)
ReplyDeleteHeather you have inspired me to try this pattern. Went to Hobby Lobby today and bought the Love this yarn in County Blue. The pattern says use a J hook, but since you took the time try different sizes I will try it with the N hook. I'll send you some pics.
ReplyDeleteIt's really a pretty pattern Debbie, I hope you'll enjoy working on it as much as I am. Good luck, I'll look forward to seeing yours. I'll post some updated pictures of mine in a couple of days. Thank you. :-)
