This is one of the reasons I wanted to learn how to crochet.
I wanted to make this blanket for my son.
As you can tell, this was one of my very first crochet projects!
It was too big for the little one.....
But he didn't seem to mind. He wanted a rabbit blanket to go with his favorite (at the time) stuffed animal friend.
Through the years, crochet has been woven into my daily routine, just like cooking and doing the laundry, except I enjoy crochet a lot more!
:-)
What made you pick up the hook?

Cute bunny blanket ! I like crochet alot better than laundry and cleaning too ! :)
ReplyDeleteI crochet a lot of doilies in the middle of 20. Now I am 41 years old and I saw so many blankets and other crochet stuff online in your blog and in other blogs, too. And I wanted to make a blanket for me. I started to crochet again in January this year. I love it.
ReplyDeleteHappy crochet day.

That little bunny blanket is cute Heather - you did a great job with it.
ReplyDeleteI learned the granny square from my sister Teri in high school. I didn't do much after that until I was pregnant with my daughter Erica - that's when I started again and made baby blankets for her. :)
LOVE it!!! I learned to do only the very basic in crochet when I was young. But a few years ago, I stumbled upon Attic 24 blog, and then The Garden Bell, and Teresa, and you...and so many others who inspired me to pick up the hook. Plus, I am a quilter, and when I began to babysit my grandson, 5 years ago, I found that I missed quilting so much, and crochet and knitting are so portable. So I learned to knit too, and am still learning, and want to move on to more difficult things.

PS Sorry I grossed you out with the roe pictures!!!!
That blanket is precious! and the same reason I wanted to learn, to make a blanket for my son. (first child) Have a beautiful day! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so precious...it is a good question what made me pick up the hook...hmmm..my older sister was crocheting, and one night she pulled out the hook and showed me how..and I've been on the adventure my whole life. I got "hooked" on doilies initially and have not strayed farm from that...love the thread..but I make other things out of yarn.
ReplyDeleteI love this blanket for your son. You did a fantastic job. My MIL taught me to crochet when I was 19, she was working on a baby blanket the time and I wanted to learn. Many baby blankets made for many years. Thirty years later I finally got the hang of crocheting with thread resulting in hundres of doilies being made. They are my weakness! Blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable blanket Heather! Wonderful keepsake for your son.
ReplyDeleteI started out with dishcloths to teach myself how to crochet and then on to blankets and other things.
It was a nice blanket ...I love it...it was big ...but good for him to play ....nice and cute.I like it...:0)
ReplyDeleteMy mom taught me knitting and crocheting when I was younger, but I put them both aside for many years. I tried picking up knitting again years later, but after a shoulder injury, knitting just wasn't good with my right shoulder anymore. So I picked up crocheting again, knowing I knew that more anyway and it was easier. I'm so glad I did. I love all the things I crochet now. :)

That hoodie blanket is so absolutely adorable! My cousin taught me to crochet when I was about 20 -- actually, I think I tried to teach myself before that -- I remember doing a Christmas stocking that didn't turn out quite right. For the longest time, I only knew how to do single and double crochet. I knew how to make flowers, leaves and a square around it -- I did small flowers and squares for baby blankets -- and bigger flowers and squares for afghans. It wasn't until blogging that I finally figured out how to read a pattern. :) Hope you are having a lovely weekend. Tammy
ReplyDeleteI started with a crochet class in 4-H Club when I was about 12 years old. I've been crocheting off and on most of my life! I'm currently working on a squares for a lap blanket. --Jennifer
