I've been playing around with yarn...
scrap yarn that is.
I have a LOT of scrap yarn that's been begging me to do something with it. So I decided to work on some traditional granny squares here and there.
And...
when I have enough...
I'll stitch them together to make a blanket.
I also officially started the 2nd half of the Log Cabin Afghan. At the rate I'm going, it will probably be another month before it's done...
Happy Stitching!

So comforting...the granny square. It's such a great in-between project. Can't wait to see it come together.
ReplyDeleteThey look so nice Heather. :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks great!!! I did the same thing with my scrap yarn and came up with a good sized lap blanket for the back of my couch if you go check out my blog you can see it... I did ten rounds then put them together with some single stitches... it came out to be a 4 x 3 and then I did a little boarder with two more rounds... it is cute and has ALOT of different colors lol!!! but it is so great!!!! What kind of yarn do you use???
ReplyDeleteThank you Hillery, Debi and Alannah. :-)
ReplyDeleteAlannah, the yarn is just an assortment of scraps from various projects (Red Heart, I Love This Yarn, Caron One Pound, etc.). Thanks again.
Very nice Heather. Squares are fun to work with. So many things you can do with them.
ReplyDeleteHi Heather, I love the granny square. When all is said and done its a great crohet to come back to and I always do. Your log cabin is going to be beautiful and I love the picture of the completed squares and little cabin! Just adorable. Wishing you much blessings.
ReplyDeleteI love making granny squares. They work up so fast. And give so much joy.
ReplyDeleteLovely squares!! This inspires me...I have a ton of scrap yarn and I can never decide what I'm going to use it for. But I think I'm going to start on some squares....
ReplyDeleteI did the same exact thing today. Just wanted to work up something quick, so grabbed a ball of blue yarn leftover from a previous baby afghan, and made for small granny squares. I will add white around them -- and then use up other bits of scrap yarn to eventually complete a baby blanket. It will be my first one in the granny square pattern. I like how you are mixing up your colors. I need to get better at doing that. Hope your day is great. Tammy
ReplyDeleteI love granny squares. I think they are the best use of leftover yarns and they always remind me of winter afternoons wrapped up in my grandmama's afghan.
ReplyDeleteThey look great. I've been doing more cross stitch than crocheting, but once it gets cooler out, I'll probably do more. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your nice comments on my little granny squares. :-)
