The Fisherman Tale is now complete!
I just finished up the fringe on The Fisherman Wedding Afghan this morning...
just in the nick of time...
the wedding is THIS weekend!
I wasn't sure if I'd get it complete in time. But I finally got down to business and started making progress.
I did end up blocking it as the popcorn stitch really "pulled" even with a larger hook. Thankfully, I used a wool blend (Wool-Ease) and it blocked just fine...
I really enjoyed the challenge of it.
It rained all day yesterday, so I wasn't sure if I would be able to get any outdoor photos...
but thankfully, the sun came out today
and I was able to get in my "photo shoot".
I hope the bride and groom will enjoy their gift...
Whether they end up using it at the foot of their bed...
or to keep them warm as they watch a favorite movie and enjoy some shared popcorn...
As always best wishes to the happy couple and many blessings to them for a lifetime of happiness.
The End!
(But, another project is soon to follow!)
:-)

Heather this is beautiful, a job well done.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, that is a stunning afghan. Do you mind telling us how many skeins of Wool-Ease you used?
ReplyDeleteThank you ladies for your nice comments. :-)
ReplyDeleteAngelRoseLite, I have 18 yarn wrappers, but I may not have kept them all. The patterns calls for 66 oz.
Wow that is just beautiful and you can see the work that went into that for sure. I don't think I would have the patience to do it myself. Way to go girl and thanks so much for sharing with us I love it and Im sure the wedding couple will adore it!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Where did you find the pattern?
ReplyDeleteOh my, this is absolutely gorgeous! Wow! I can't believe you can part with this one. You have outdone yourself with this one. It's my favorite so far, and you've done some really nice ones. Congratulations on a job well done! I'm kind of jealous. :0
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! What more can I say. You are extremely talented. Great Job!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lynn, Cris, Pammy Sue and Hillery! I appreciate it. :-)
ReplyDeleteCris, the leaflet was actually gifted to me by a lady on Crochetville a couple of years ago, but I've seen it listed on eBay on various occasions. There is a new Fisherman booklet out by Leisure Arts that has similar afghans, and uses the same type of stitches, but in different arrangements (of the stitches). Here's a link to that booklet: http://www.123stitch.com/cgi-perl/itemdetail.pl?item=LA4948
Thanks again ladies.
Great job Heather! It is beautiful and I admire the time and talent you put into it.
ReplyDeleteLove it!! I recently got the little pamphlet that the pattern is in but I haven't yet gotten enough yarn to make a blanket. XD

ReplyDeleteHeather, could you share where you got the pattern? My grandmother made the the exact same afghan. It is one of my most treasured things she gave me. It represents her gift of time and love. It is my dream to make one for my granddaughter someday. I need to get practicing! : )
ReplyDeleteHi Shelly, thank you for leaving your nice comment. You can find the e-pattern on purple kitty (http://www.purplekittyyarns.com/leisure-arts/galway-and-cork-afghans-crochet-pattern), or you can try Amazon or e-bay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Leisure-Arts-Fisherman-Crochet-Afghans-Pattern-Leaflet-6-Designs-Galway-250-/200692126668. It's an old Leisure Arts Pamphlet called Fisherman Crochet Afghans. Hope that helps. Happy crocheting. :-)
