We had to have some Locust Trees taken down today....Some of our recent wind and ice storms have taken their toll on the poor old trees...
As you can see, they had to bring in a crane...the trees are taller than the telephone pole by a good 10 -15 feet...
How would you like to be the brave worker who gets hoisted up by his safety belt with his chainsaw to take these down?
Three of the trees had to come down...
One of the trees was twisted and in danger of coming down on it's own and we were told another two were actually hollow on the inside. Kind of dangerous, especially when you have a five year old playing ball, riding his bike and drawing with sidewalk chalk just below their overhangs. One of the trees was responsible for a huge dead limb plopping down in the middle of our drive last winter.
The side lot looks a bit bare now...
The poor old trees have been wood chipped and will likely become mulch for some one's flower beds...
Good-bye old trees, we'll miss your natural beauty...

That's so sad. My husband had most of the trees taken off of our yard. The trees were old and very close to the house. Husband was afraid that a good wind might blow them down onto the house. One tree that looked very nice turned out it had a hollow center like a pipe so it was good he took it down.
ReplyDeleteI love trees. I think they are so beautiful and yes, its so sad to lose them but better to be safe. Good thing you were able to get them down before they came on their own and did damage. I cannot imagine being up that high never mind dangling there. Brave guy. Have a nice day Heather.
