On the Hook...

I have a new project on my hook....

I'm making a shawl from The Crocheted Prayer Shawl Companion.  The one I chose is called Sister's Shawl; it's a very pretty pattern with a soft texture.

I'm using Red Heart Soft yarn in Toast.  I decided to use a larger hook than called for as I wanted the stitch pattern to be a bit more open and lacy than the picture showed.  I like the warmth of the color I selected and since it's neutral, it will go with anything.

The pattern is working up really quickly and I don't think this will take longer than a few days to a week to complete.  I'll probably do a different border than the one pictured in the book; I'm thinking some sort of shell...

If you like to make shawls, I highly recommend the book.  There are a nice variety of patterns ranging from Easy to Intermediate, with the majority of the patterns falling into the Easy category.

I'm enjoying a quiet Sunday afternoon doing the things I like to do.  I hope you are as well...

  5. I love the look of this. I wish I could see it a little closer up. The recipient of this will be pleased, I'm sure. My MIL is knitting a prayer shawl, but I think she is having trouble. She hasn't knitted in quite a while. Maybe I'll have to hook up with her and start my own. They really are for a great cause.
    thanks for sharing

I'll try to get some better photos next time I update on the project. It was a gray day today.

  8. Hi Heather, sounds like a perfectly lovely day to me. My Saturday was filled with cross-stitch and crochet. Although we have mild winter temps here, we are off to a warmer climate come Wednesday nite as we head for our second trip to Sri Lanka. Today is a bit wet after last nite's storm. Took a while to get to school because of traffic. Love your prayer shawl. This is something I would like to do and the pattern looks like it would be easy. Great color! I can see that you certainly have signs of spring in your backyard. Enjoy and best wishes, Tammy

I made tee shirt yarn today. It was fun to do and very very easy. I am not sure what to make...weaving or crochet? Anyway what else to do with a box of donated tees!?
