Comfort Food on a Saturday in January

Last night was family night in our house and I cooked up some good old fashioned comfort food.

Main course was one of my favorite recipes Baked Ziti.  I've blogged about this before, but it's worth another mention, it's an easy recipe that is super yummy.  It also happens to be meatless if that is something you watch.  I double the recipe so there are always leftovers for the next day.

And, for dessert, I tried a new recipe...

Chocolate Peanut Butter Pudding Cake.

The recipe is from Not Your Mother's Slow Cooker Cookbook.  It's really good and tastes like hot fudge cake.  The above was my dish, hubby said he needed a bigger bowl.

:-)

While we enjoyed our indulgence, we watched Balto...

well, the little one watched Balto...

I crocheted and hubby fell asleep...

It was a peaceful and relaxing Saturday evening.

  1. Looks so yummy! I love making double batches and living off the leftovers ( usually for lunch)

  2. Looks delicious. I'd love to try the baked ziti but the guys here prefer plain ol' spaghetti. :)

  3. That does sound like a perfect day indeed! I make a baked ziti that I get requests for all the time. I use turkey and turkey sausage in mine. I too double and freeze! Your cake in the crocker looks divine. I am heading back after commenting to go see the recipe! Yesterday we had a back breaking day in the grove, and today I am hurting. Doubt I will be doing much of anything at all today!!!

  6. Definitely sounds like a good night with good food. I sure was craving comfort food yesterday. A big bowl of anything hot and hearty will do the trick. Yikes! We got some mega lightning going on at the moment. And now rain. Hope your Sunday is a good one. Tammy

  10. I prepared your baked ziti recipe the other night, and my husband liked it so much that we are going to make it again and take to our daughter's birthday "game night" on Friday to share with the family. Thanks for a delicious recipe!
