Explore...Dream...Discover

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do.  So throw off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.

Explore.  Dream.  Discover."

Spring Things

It's been a beautiful day here in Southern Ohio.

It feels more like May than late March.  I've got the windows wide open and the little one and I both have on shorts.

I went out for a bit this afternoon and snapped a few spring photos.  Our dogwood and red bud are in bloom, they look so pretty next to each other.

Of course the daffodils have been out for a week or so...

And, look how much my little mailbox area has come to life in just a few days!

I've been playing with yarn, making motifs to my hearts content, but not quite satisfied with one yet.

This weekend we'll either be painting or working in the yard; depending on the weather.

We need to have a big load of mulch delivered, but will wait until I get my flowers to plant.

Hope all is well in your corner of the world.

Glorious Spring!

Today felt like the official start of spring.

After soccer (the last game!) and hair cuts for the "boys", we were able to get outside and do a little work in the yard.

I got two flower beds cleaned out.
The one by the mailbox; before...

and, after...

I also cleaned out the bed around my favorite tree in our yard...

It's where my little cement bunny resides and I usually put a potted shade plant under the tree in the summer.

We still have LOADS to do...
but, it's a good start.

We were only out for a couple of hours, but I know I'll be feeling those hours later this evening or sometime tomorrow.

I hope you were able to get out and enjoy a pretty day.

I think Spring has Sprung!

On My Mind

We are getting our house ready to put on the market.

It's been a hard decision, the housing market in our area is still recovering from the bust a few years ago.  We've gone back and forth, but dear hubby and I decided we'll put it on once school is over and we'll see what happens...

So...

We've been weeding through things and doing little projects here and there to get the house ready.  We've made several car loads to Good Will and we aren't done going through the basement yet. Once dear son's soccer is over, we'll get into more "meatier" projects like painting.

We have ten weeks of school left for the year...well, 9 1/2.  I know dear son and I are both ready for some summer freedom.  Mid-May, we'll be celebrating the end of another school year and I can't wait!

:-)

My mind has been full of plans for our little family.  Time will tell what the future has in store and I'm excited to see!

Work in Progress Wednesday

I'm linking up with Simply Crochet and Other Crafts for her Work in Progress Wednesday.

As you can see, I haven't made too much progress since I last posted pictures.  "Real life" is getting in the way of my hobby time, but it's all good and I'm certainly not complaining.

:-)

I really like how the long double crochets create a soft texture in the solid section of the blanket.  If you look closely, it looks like a chevron pattern.  Isn't that cool?

Details for my project can be found HERE.

What are you working on?

The Snow Has Melted

Well, I'm very happy to announce that the snow we got yesterday has quickly melted.

On our school break today, I headed out into the sunshine to inspect the progress of my early blooms.  Looks like progress is being made on the daffodils in the backyard...

and in the front.

My pretty dogwood has some nice buds forming on it too.

Isn't springtime filled with anticipation?

Not much progress has been made on my mosaic afghan.  I'm still working on the middle section.  I'll get some pictures of it in the next couple of days.

Looks like warmer temps for the rest of the week.  Hopefully the only precipitation we'll be seeing will soon be making the flowers bloom.

but if I could choose I would always greet it in a garden."

A Touch of Snow and Other Things

I guess, according to the calendar, it is still winter...

Mother nature certainly has a way of playing practical jokes.  I've wanted snow all winter, and now as I'm ready for spring, we get a taste of the white stuff...

We finally went to see The Secret World of Arrietty over the weekend.  I'd wanted to see it when it first came out, but other things kept getting in the way.  I really enjoyed the movie.  There are really pretty scenes, that look like water color paintings; Claude Monet in animation.

:-)

Following the movie, we went to Uno's for a Chicago-style pizza.  It was a good Saturday afternoon.  The little one even scored a goal during his morning soccer game.

Dear hubby starts a new job next week.  It's going to be a bit of a commute for him. We are so thankful for the opportunity that has been presented to him.  Now to figure out if it makes sense to move.  We are putting our trust in God as we make decisions for our future.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6

I hope all is well with you.
Happy Monday!
