Gray Skies and Ice

This is the type of winter weather we get in Southern Ohio....

gray skies and ice.

It looks pretty on the trees, but so dangerous to drive on.  Dear son had a soccer game this morning, so we were out and about early.  Hubby drove, I'm not a very good navigator on the ice.  I don't mind driving in snow, but ice is a whole other adventure.

The little one scored two goals.
You should have seen the smile on his face (and mine).

:-)

We are now home.
I think a nesting day is in order.
I'll make a homemade pizza later and we'll cozy up to the fire; me with my crochet and the "boys" with some movie or another.

"Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire:
it is the time for home."
- Edith Sitwell -

Keep warm and stay safe!

I don't do ice....either...have a fun day....stay warm

  3. Ooh it looks chilly! We've had very mild weather over here, unusual for January. Well done to your son, I bet he was the hero of the game xxx

  4. That looks so cold! I wondered? Does your son play soccer indoors? It must be too cold for him to play on an outdoor field?
Nice day to stay in and crochet!!

  5. Thanks for the nice comments. :-)

Hi Kris, yes, it's indoor soccer; he plays through the winter. They start the kids with lessons and then they work into games as they get older. This is his first year of games. It's fun to watch the little ones play. And it's heated! :-)

  6. Soccer in the ice and cold. Ouch! Glad to hear he had a good game. I did baseball with my boys for about 10 years and can't tell you how happy I am that they both have "retired" from the sport. :) Your afternoon at home sounds wonderful. For us, it was a whole new week, back to school. Best wishes to you and yours, Tammy

Your pictures look just like what I woke up to Saturday morning here in Southern PA. I hate to be out in the cold, but I love the winter...goodness, does that even make sense! lol..Take care!
